Scottish Beef Finishing – Cattle Network Briefing Note 1

This briefing note focuses on cattle “finishing” times within Scotland’s beef sector. Using the British Cattle Movement Service’s (BCMS) Cattle Tracing System (CTS) data accessed through Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) in collaboration with EPIC the authors  have extracted data from all animals that were born in Scotland on 2013 that were destined for slaughter in Scotland. This provides a useful baseline to assess the wide range of cattle ‘finishing’ times within Scotland’s beef sector.
