Brexit: How Might UK Agriculture Thrive or Survive? – CRE Report

A Report by colleagues at the Centre for Rural Economy at Newcastle University was published this week on how UK agriculture will be impacted by Brexit. The report assesses the economic impacts of a selected number of UK trade and domestic agricultural policy scenarios following Brexit, by integrating state of the art economic modelling approaches at macro, sector and farm levels.

The research shows that under selected trade scenarios the impact of Brexit on UK agriculture will be far from uniform, with differences at farm and sector level; which implies that although the agricultural industry can survive and adapt, there is likely to be considerable hardship for individuals, families and businesses.

Shailesh Shrestha from SRUC contributed to this work, and the report can be viewed in full here.
